Camp Connection: Career Clarity - 11th June

New opportunities often exist just outside your comfort zone. Whether you’re considering a job change, starting a new business, or figuring out your next step, nature provides the perfect metaphors: growth is happening everywhere and things thrive in unexpected places.

Switch the Pret sandwich for a communal meal cooked over fire. We’re told to feel the fear and do it anyway, but many of us would rather take a nap than a risk. We’re going to gather in a field, and get comfortable with being a little uncomfortable for a day, so that you can gain a brighter perspective on your career.

Being in nature creates new perspectives. Deliberate career planning is rare. If it happens at all, it’s usually in front of a screen, sparked by the pressure of an annual review, the threat of redundancy or during a scroll through job listings. Interviewing generally defaults to talking about the last couple of roles. Our approach to career clarity starts out with reconnecting with what you wanted to be when you grew up and understanding where you have grown and thrived.

Let’s step into an unfamiliar environment and replace screens, Sharpies and post-it notes with slate, chalk and grass. Bring yourself and we’ll help you escape from your usual tools and the day to day routine. Driven by a desire to help everyone connect more with nature, Becky has created a space for you to reflect and explore. Nature forces you to be present, adaptable, and open to new ideas. Suzi has curated the activities that will help you think.

Andy, Head of Engineering

“Working with you, Suzi, in my most recent job-hunt was so valuable. It’s literally life-changing; because big career moves are big life moves. Not just for me, but for my whole family.”

Your hosts

Your hosts are Suzi and Becky. As ex-Thoughtworkers, we share a set of values around people, collaboration and getting-shit-done. What surprised us, is our shared interest in the power of nature to improve human connections. Perhaps we’re both just total hippies.  how humans can connect. We’re excited to collaborate and focus the space that Becky has built for Camp Connection on careers, so you can experience the power of nature on how you think about what’s next.

Feel free to email or book a chat with me with any questions or concerns. See FAQs first just in case.

Rhythm of the day

10am - 3:30pm

As you arrive on the beautiful farm, we’ll wander down to your camp for the day where there’ll be refreshments and a chance to notice nature around you.

We’ll start with reconnecting with what we wanted to be when we grew up. We’ll get into crafted reflection activities.

Then on to the gentle task of cooking lunch over the fire - everyone can take part of the work - collecting water, making the fire, chopping the veg, etc.

You might find yourself having a conversation with someone over the washing up or some quiet time on your own to reflect.

Feasting then clearing up naturally follow before a final circle for reflections and preparing to part ways.
